What does it mean to be a Miljøfyrtårn (Eco-Lighthouse) certified business?

Miljøfyrtårn is a recognized certification scheme that helps companies work systematically and concretely to reduce their climate footprint. Barn til Bords has been certified in the catering and large-scale kitchen category.
For us, this means we have undergone a thorough process where everything from waste management, procurement, and energy use to the work environment and transport has been evaluated – and improved.

This is not just about the environment, but also about quality, well-being, and responsibility at every level.

Our journey – from startup to certification

Our vision is the same as it was 20 years ago, to provide children with the joy of food and curiosity for all types of food – made with care for both people and the environment.

In 2016, we got our own kitchen at Rud, which marked the start of a new phase of growth and professionalization. Today, we have 8 skilled employees who contribute every day to creating great meal experiences for both small and large occasions.

The Miljøfyrtårn certification is proof that our entire team is working together for a greener and more responsible everyday life.

The road to certification has given us many valuable experiences. Among other things, we have:

• Reduced food waste through better planning and the reuse of ingredients.
